Following this, we conduct a comprehensive inspection of your garden, evaluating factors such as sunlight exposure, humidity levels, climate conditions, and potential animal or insect challenges.

Our process involves blending your personal preferences with our expert plant care and design knowledge to create a garden that is both beautiful and functional. With this detailed information, we carefully select the plants best suited to your outdoor space and growing conditions. Our expertise spans a wide range of areas, including landscaping design for growing zones 5-10, tropical plant design for annuals, shade and full sun gardens, cold-hardy desert gardens, pollinator gardens, patio gardens, aquatic plants, exotic plant care and much more.

Expert Consultation

At Lush Life Gardening, we provide personalized one-on-one consultations with Derek Scolpino. These virtual or in person consultations cover a broad spectrum of topics, including garden design, interior plant design, plant care, troubleshooting for sick plants, overwintering strategies, pest/insect control strategies, winter care for dormant plants, and various educational opportunities. 

To tailor the consultation to your specific needs, we will first send you a brief questionnaire. This helps us gain a clear understanding of your needs and allows us to provide precise pricing for our initial one-hour consultation. All consultation pricing is custom depending on the size and scale of your project. We look forward to assisting you with expert guidance and support to enhance your gardening endeavors.

Derek has received his MA in Psychology and is currently in the process of completing his PhD in Clinical Psychology.  He provides the unique opportunity for educational sessions that merge his mental health expertise with his extensive knowledge of plant care. These sessions explore how you can incorporate gardening into your life in a way that enhances mental well-being and overall quality of life. 

Project Management

We offer an elevated service package that includes the project management of your garden from start to finish. This package allows you to relax while we handle the hiring and coordination of all approved service providers, such as irrigation and pest control, until the project is completed. To ensure transparency and avoid any surprises, we share all relevant information upfront regarding potential additional costs beyond design consultation and purchasing plants. 

For fertilizing and planting, we collaborate with trusted local landscaping contractors who are skilled in executing these tasks post-design. In cases where irrigation is necessary and not already in place, we can recommend reputable local providers as installing irrigation can be crucial for the long-term success of your plants.

Depending on your location, particularly in areas like the Hamptons and much of Connecticut, deer fencing might be required to protect your garden. While the cost of deer fencing can be substantial, it is an important consideration for garden protection and sustainability.

For gardens requiring extensive pruning, we may suggest a local weekly gardening service to maintain the garden's health and appearance. 

In lieu of project management, we are happy to provide tailored suggestions for additional services that may be needed, helping you to develop a comprehensive understanding of potential costs. Although we do not profit from services like irrigation and deer fencing, we believe in fully informing you of these potential expenses to give you a clear picture of your garden's overall investment.

Pricing

For all garden designs, pricing is customized to reflect the specific needs and scale of your project. We believe in providing exceptional value without hidden fees or unexpected costs. From the outset of our collaboration, we are clear and direct about our pricing structure. Due to this approach, please be aware that we do not provide on the spot pricing estimates. We take the time to thoroughly understand the scope and scale of your project to offer a detailed and accurate pricing proposal. 

Consultation Pricing: For an initial one-on-one consultation, the cost is determined based on your responses to our initial questionnaire. We will send you a questionnaire to assess your needs and can more accurately assess a consultation fee from there.
