Derek Scolpino has devoted his life to the art and science of gardening. His enduring passion for horticulture is more than a career—it's a source of profound purpose and joy that has guided him throughout his life.

With decades of accumulated expertise, Derek has elevated his gardening knowledge into exceptional landscape design and consultation services. His work has been recently featured in the Horticultural Alliance of the Hamptons touring series and prestigious local publications.

Derek earned a Bachelor of Science from Roger Williams University and a Master of Arts from The New School. He is currently nearing the completion of his PhD in Clinical Psychology at Long Island University in Brooklyn. This unique blend of academic and practical experience equips Derek with a deep understanding of the psychological benefits of incorporating greenery into daily life.

At the helm of Lush Life Gardening, Derek transforms superior landscape design into a means for individuals and families to enrich their lives through gardening and plant care. He fondly recalls his first plant, a cherished companion from his early days in NYC, which still thrives among his collection of over 400 potted plants. This journey of nurturing plants through successes and failures has profoundly influenced his approach to gardening today.

Derek takes great pride in working closely with clients to co-create garden spaces that are both timeless and joyful. He offers personalized virtual consultations and site visits from his offices in East Hampton, New York City, and Fairfield County.
